Its been a great year for the Tramps, from playing Empty Bottle, Schubas, and Lincoln Hall, to touring the country, we’ve been at it non-stop. We’ve been playing some 16 originals over the past year. Even songs off the Antony Ablan EP (pre-tramps) have developed into something that is now uniquely the Tramps. The band has made all of this music something new. As the songwriter its a thrill to see something you create grow into something so beautiful. Now its our time to make a record of where we are right now, capture the magic of the sound we’ve come to call the Tramps, this wooden, electric, american gypsy sound.
So, here we are, day one in the studio. We began tracking drums, bass, guitar and vocals live. 6 hours of magic, only to find some technical trouble rendered the reel completely useless. Ha! All is right, we chalked it up to a day of rehearsal, coffee, and cigarettes. We’ve got 3 days straight this weekend to get at it. Wish the recording gear well, please, that it may perform to our every need, and never ruin a good take again.
View from the vocal booth, with all the good luck charms on the sill. I’ll add some more Friday morning.
